I am beginning to get the feeling that this tumble log is going to die soon. I mean I thought I would have a lot more time in college. You know, because, you get to do whatever you want. But, I am realizing it is so much better to be out socializing and doing real things than to constantly worry about updating this thing.

It isn’t to say that I am going to give this up, but I just would rather leave behind my obligation to this writing outlet.

I am thinking about going back to journaling. It is a bit more personal than this. Especially considering the fact that so many people are now popping up on this site.

Salad bar at the Shakely’s household for dinner. Yum yum. So I got Kelleighe to give me a haircut before I head out for school. I finally have a car to drive around in. Even though it is only for a week, I’m definitely going to milk it for all it is. A nice precursor to the heaps amount of freedom I’ll have within a week.

“Douche” is one of the douchiest words in the English language. Just using it kind of makes you a douche. (So yes, we are douchebags.) It was probably cool once. But then again, so were trucker hats. And that’s why it’s such an important term for America’s higher education.

Once upon a time, the word douche meant a very specific substrata of jackass. It meant you wore a backwards hat, maybe waxed your chest, used the word “bro” a lot, drank Red Bull and vodkas, had a name for both your car and your penis, felt a reflexive need to high-five after sex, and would someday either work as a trader, or just act like you did. A douche was someone who never helped the homeless learn to fingerpaint or took organic chem, didn’t watch independent films made by privileged children from New York City, and, though we’re not sure if anyone ever said this out loud, wasn’t female. But then everyone, even forty-year-olds, started to use the term douche. Or douchebag. Or dbag. Or d-nozzle. Or dilly fountain (actually, no one ever used that). And it sort of lost its specific meaning and came to stand for someone who had very little self-awareness. Who formed a Quidditch team at Vassar. Who joined a freegan collective at UC Berkeley or the college Republicans at University of Texas. Who wrote an article, and then a book, calling colleges “douchey.” Doing community outreach doesn’t make you douchey, but lord knows it doesn’t protect you from being douchey. A douche is anyone who takes himself too seriously, someone who goes whole hog into ultimate Frisbee or someone who thinks that because he goes to Wharton he is already the chairman of the Fed.

That kind of behavior, it should be said, is what college is all about. If we weren’t all douchebags in college, we wouldn’t find the prospect of pictures from college becoming public so terrifying. We wouldn’t have a single image for this website. So use the word “douche,” be it, and then destroy all evidence.

Day from Hell

So it is the start of the second day of champs. I wake to a furious mother who is so upset that my sister and I did “nothing” last bight I the way if preparing do today. I left for the house that I’m house sitting as soon as I got up. I came back and was told that we almost weren’t going to be going a all to the swim meet today. But, I was then told that we are going to have a day from hell and will have to spend the whole day with her at the meet.

In other news… I’m absolutely tired because I only got five hours of sleep right now. I was watching the first Harry Potter then got caught up in a conversation on Skype with Marta and company. I’ll probably pay for it Monday morning when u can hardly function due to little sleep.

Swim Champs P. 1

Wow what a fantastic day of swimming for me. Today started off so early… 5:13 and ended… well it hasn’t ended yet.

I improved all my times tremendously. I don’t know what happened. It must be the shaven legs and wearing a cap thing. Anyway, I made finals in both the individual medley and the 100 backstroke. By the way, I killed Trevor in every backstroke race today but still was put on the B relay, instead of the A which, was out-touched by another team.

I’m watching Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone at the moment. It is incredible. Much better than I remember.

So my boss decided to tell me that I was getting off two hours early, but only once the time came for me to be off. No notice. No nothing.

Anyway, I’m cleaning out the CR-V while I wait so it is a little more presentable for my license test. Doin’ that in about 10 minutes. We’ll see how it goes!!
